The Formula One Season 2024

Formula One Season 2024
Hi everyone, welcome to the new episode of Peter’s English Podcast. In today’s episode, I want to talk about the 2024 Formula One season. But first, let’s take a look at the era following the last title of Michael Schumacher.Fernando Alonso won two Formula One World Drivers’ Championships in the 2005 and 2006 seasons while driving for Renault, marking the most successful period of his career. In 2007, Kimi Räikkönen claimed the World Drivers’ Championship title. Lewis Hamilton secured his first championship in the 2008 season, a thrilling and memorable year filled with many exciting moments.Jenson Button triumphed in the 2009 season, winning the World Drivers’ Championship while driving for Brawn GP, a team that would later be acquired by Mercedes. Red Bull Racing began their era of dominance in 2010, largely thanks to their talented driver Sebastian Vettel, who won the championship four times consecutively from 2010 to 2013.Mercedes GP became the powerhouse of Formula One for several years. Nico Rosberg won the championship in 2016, but it was Lewis Hamilton who truly shone, securing six World Drivers’ Championships for Mercedes. Hamilton is an incredibly successful and talented driver, having won 104 Grand Prix races, the most in Formula One history.Red Bull Racing regained their dominance starting from the 2021 season. Their driver, Max Verstappen, won the World Drivers’ Championship in 2021, 2022, and 2023. The 2021 season, in particular, was highly dramatic and controversial, with the most notable moment being Verstappen’s last-lap overtake of Lewis Hamilton in the final Grand Prix after a late-race incident. The subsequent seasons saw Red Bull Racing remain a formidable and successful team, solidifying their position at the top of the sport.
The start of the new 2024 season was somewhat uneventful, with Max Verstappen dominating the  seven Grand Prix races. However, the subsequent races became much more exciting as different drivers began to secure victories. Carlos Sainz from the Ferrari team won the Australian Grand Prix. Lando Norris triumphed in Miami. Charles Leclerc, also from Ferrari, clinched victory at the Monaco Grand Prix. The Monaco race, as usual, was less thrilling due to the difficulty of overtaking on that circuit. The Austrian Grand Prix was quite entertaining, with George Russell from Mercedes taking the win. The British Grand Prix at Silverstone was another highlight, with Lewis Hamilton winning his first race of the 2024 season, marking his record 104th career win.The Hungarian Grand Prix saw a remarkable performance from McLaren, achieving a one-two finish. However, it was not without controversy as Lando Norris had to settle for second place, allowing Oscar Piastri to claim his first career victory. The Belgian Grand Prix was also exciting, with Mercedes securing another one-two finish. George Russell won his second race of the season, with Hamilton finishing second. It’s great to see a variety of drivers and teams competing for victories, making the races more interesting and unpredictable. After the Belgian Grand Prix, the season takes a one-month break. Thank you for listening, and stay tuned for more updates. Bye bye!

Update

According to formula1.com, George Russell has been disqualified from the result of the Belgian Grand Prix after his Mercedes was found to be underweight following the race, meaning that the team mate Lewis Hamilton has been promoted to winner.

I apologize that I haven’t waited for the official result of the Belgian Grand Prix. I’m sorry 😳😓
